CDFW Provides Updates Regarding Wolf-Livestock Compensation Program Evaluation
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has issued a press release announcing that it has “started a process to evaluate California’s Wolf-Livestock Compensation Program.” Additional details of that process, including plans for a stakeholder survey and “four public meetings in counties with wolf presence,” are available on the agency’s Wolf Livestock Compensation Grants website. That webpage also includes the meeting materials from two stakeholder meetings in which CCA staff participated. For additional details, see last week’s edition of California Cattleman Weekly.

Save the Date: CCA’s Midyear Meeting Scheduled to Take Place June 24th and 25th
CCA’s 2026 Midyear Meeting will be at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada! We encourage all CCA members to attend and be an active participant in discussing current issues and setting CCA policy. Meetings will tentatively begin on Wednesday, June 24th at 8:00am, and will be followed by dynamic and educational speakers in our opening general session. We are thrilled to announce that we will be attending the Reno Rodeo once again for our Wednesday night event. Full meeting registrations will include a ticket to Reno Rodeo’s Wednesday night performance at the Reno Livestock Event Center. Thursday morning, June 25th, we will be back at 8:00am for our closing general session, followed by CCA’s Board Meeting before heading back to home to the ranch. Registration and room block information will be open on the CCA website on April 1st. We hope to see you there!

NCBA says updated tax code gives cattle producers tools to expand operations and plan for the next generation Brownfield Ag News “A lobbyist with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association says recent changes to the tax code provides incentives for producers to invest back into their operations. Executive director, government affairs Kent Bacus says the One Big Beautiful Bill includes additional business deductions for producers. ‘If you look at the Section 199A, which allows a lot of small businesses to claim that 20% deduction,’ he says. ‘That’s pretty significant.’” To continue reading, click here.
