For Immediate Release: June 15, 2023
PASO ROBLES, Calif. — Starting Wednesday, over a hundred cattle ranchers and supporters from across California will gather in San Luis Obispo County for the California Cattlemen’s Association and California CattleWomen’s Annual Midyear Meeting. The event is taking place June 21-22 at the Paso Robles Inn.
“This meeting is an important time for our grassroots membership to come together and make decisions to determine the direction of the Association,” Steve Arnold, San Luis Obispo County cattle rancher and California Cattlemen’s Association President said. “The more members who attend, the greater everyone benefits from the meetings with industry leaders, agencies, and affiliate organizations.”
In addition to setting policy during committee meetings, California Department of Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross is one of the many guests speaking at the event. Secretary Ross will share the Department’s Ag Vision plan for the next decade. “The Emerging Biomass Industry and Growing SAFE Programs on Public Lands” and “Options for Carbon Credit on Grazing Ground” are two other presentations on the agenda in addition to legislative and regulatory updates.
“We are happy to be back in Paso Robles for this year’s meeting and look forward to a great event,” CCA Director of Finance and Events Lisa Brendlen said. “New this year, we are excited our Wednesday reception and dinner event is at the Paso Robles Pioneer Museum.”
Sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Cattlemen’s and San Luis Obispo County CattleWomen’s, evening attendees will get to go on a journey through the San Luis Obispo County Cattlewomen’s exhibit at the Pioneer Museum. With photos, stories, saddles, tack and equipment from eras of ranching in the region, the exhibit shows the impact of the beef industry over the last few centuries and highlights the organization’s 250 years of cattle ranching in San Luis Obispo County.
