Brie represents the Young California Committee as the 2009 YCC Chair. A senior at California State University, Fresno, Brie is majoring in agricultural business At Fresno state she has worked on the campus beef unit as the student manager for two and a half years. She has also been involved in a number of activities and organizations, including the Red Wave Show and Sale Committee and Fresno State's YCC. She currently serves as the senator for the College of Agricultural Science and Technology. Originally from Lodi, Brie is the fifth generation to work on her family's feedlot which is west of Stockton, on RobertsIsland. Brie says she is excited to be given the opportunity to serve as the YCC chair.
"The YCC really is an organization that I believe in and take pride being involved with. I look forward to helping organize worthwhile activities that will make our young members better leaders of tomorrow," Brie said.
YCC Vice Chair Casey Miller
Casey serves as this year’s YCC Vice Chair. Casey attends California State University, Chico (Chico State), where she will receive bachelor’s degrees in Agricultural Business and Animal Science and a minor in Business Administration in the spring of 2010. She is currently serving as the president of the Chico State YCA as well as a member of the Chico State Agricultural Ambassadors.
Casey was born and raised on a commercial cow/calf and stocker operation in Orland, and is still very involved with the family ranch. Her direct involvement in production serves as a fuel for her passion about the industry. Casey strongly believes that it is important for the youth of the beef industry to be as involved and as educated as possible, as they are the ones who will be filling the shoes of California cattlemen in the future.
YCC Secretary Kody Kester
Kody is a junior at Cal Poly, majoring in Agribusiness with a concentration in Finance & Appraisal and a minor in Wine and Viticulture. He is a fifth generation cattle rancher on his family’s ranch in Parkfield. At Cal Poly, He is currently serving as the vice president of the Cal Poly YCA, treasurer of the San Luis Obispo Young Farmers & Ranchers as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture.
YCC Publicity Chair Annie Troutt
Annie was born and raised in Sweet, Idaho where she grew up on her family’s ranch and became interested in the cattle industry. She is a junior at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly), majoring in Agricultural Business with a concentration in Finance and Appraisal, she is the new YCC Publicity Chair for the officer team. She also serves as the Cal Poly Young Cattlemen’s Secretary and is involved with the Cal Poly’s Western Bonanza Junior Livestock Show as the beef committee chairman, as well as a member of Cal Poly’s National Agrimarketing Association Team.
