The Beef Improvement Federation was formed over 40 years ago as a means to standardize beef cattle performance programs and methodology, and to create greater awareness, acceptance and usage of these concepts of genetic improvement. BIF represents over 40 State and National Beef Cattle Associations. The organization's three leaf clover logo represents the partnership between Industry, Extension, and Research. -Twig Marston, BIF Director
The 2009 BIF Annual Research Symposium and Annual Meeting, to be held in Sacramento, California, not only offers educational opportunities through its Symposium and guest speakers, but also is a great chance to visit California's beautiful and historical capitol. The Symposium will focus on key developments of genetic technologies that affect the beef industry; it will include interactive sessions to allow for thorough discussion of pertinent topics. Another important aspect of BIF 2009 are the committee meetings, which will provide decisions and feedback to be used to impact national genetic evaluation and breed association activities. There will also be a variety of social engagements, such as dinners and tours that attendees may participate in. We hope to see you RUSH to California for BIF 2009 on April 30th through May 3rd!
