Second Vice President Bud Sloan
Bud Sloan, DVM, of Sloan Ranches, Santa Paula, was elected to serve a term as second vice president of CCA at the annual convention in Sparks, Nev., Sloan, a cow-calf producer, has spent more than two decades as a proactive producer in Ventura County, overseeing his own cattle operation and working as a consultation veterinarian for beef producers.
“Being able to work closely on the issues I know best are what I plan to bring to this organization,” Sloan said. “Some of the tough issues, such as animal welfare, food safety and protecting beef producers are what I am especially looking forward to.”
CCA President Tom Talbot, DVM, Bishop, said through his work as a rancher, veterinarian and a member of CCA, Sloan will be an asset important issues for California beef producers.
“Bud is a real go-getter, whose leadership on local, state and national levels and knowledge of issues that face cattlemen make him a perfect fit for his new position,” Talbot said. “He is an optimistic yet realistic individual and we are lucky to have him in our corner.”
Sloan is the current President of the Ventura County Cattlemen’s Association, a member of the CCA Board of Directors and has served as chair of CCA’s Cattle Health Committee. Sloan completed his undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University before attending veterinary school at the University of California, Davis.
